Drawing from over thirty years as a civil litigator and trial attorney representing both plaintiffs and management, Greg understands the differing perspectives of each side and how the degree of legal exposure, risk, procedural timing, and expense can motivate or discourage potential settlement. Indeed, many of the most effective defense attorneys and insurers understand the value of engaging a mediator who “knows what goes on in the plaintiff’s room.”
Greg employs the facilitative technique to dispute resolution having completed training and certification through the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law (2021), and the King County Dispute Resolution Center (2020). However, his approach is flexible, and he is comfortable employing the evaluative approach, or a combination of evaluative and facilitative, if that is what the parties prefer.
Greg follows the Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators adopted by the ABA, AAA, and the Association for Conflict Resolution that emphasize: 1) party self-determination, 2) impartiality, 3) avoidance of conflicts of interest, 4) competence, 5) confidentiality, and 6) quality of process.
Mr. Ferguson is available to mediate disputes throughout the Pacific Northwest via video link or in person. He does not charge for travel and lodging expenses within this geographical region.
